I tend to write short stories I want to start sharing them hope yall like it! Give me feedback! 🙂
The city is in shambles, cars smashed like paper, homes with only a foundation remaining, the park where children once played and enjoyed with laughter was gone, nothing left but broken dreams of what once was. News reporters race to the scene after the storm had pasted, to find a few homes still standing as if the storm had missed the houses on purpose. How could this be?? All the other homes all around were barely standing or gone completely all together. Shutters laid in the streets, doors on sidewalks, and cries of despair all around. Desolation and hopelessness was presence as if it was breathing on the back of your neck. These homes were suppose to be built for this type of weather. Storm proof homes, ready to withstand the most horrendous tornados. “The next big thing!” “No more worrying!” “No more basements!” is what they said. Most of the homes were gone only a few homes were standing. News reporters swarmed the neighbors to speak with residents left homeless, people talking about memories that once was. One lady out in the street cried out with a loud squeaky voice sobbing on her knees “My dad! My daad! He’s gone!!” Now news reporters frantically hurried to homes still standing to find out how did there homes survive. Everyone trying to get the first live report.
They knocked on the door patiently awaiting a answer. With eager looks upon there faces. the door creeps open and a mans face appears with a dazed look of confusion upon his face as he catches glimpse of the destruction around him through the crowd of reporters, snapping pictures, microphones waiting, cameras rolling. ” How did your home manage to survive the storm?!” the news reporter from WBZ Channel 2 blurts out. They all wait with anxious looks upon there faces. The man took a deep breath and said “I watched the news…. there was a constant emergency broadcast that played all night, warning us that the homes weren’t safe and how to prepare and how to protect your home.” As he is speaking his wife comes to the door holding their newborn and their little girl squeezes between her dad and mom legs trying to get a peak of what’s going on.
Now this is a fictional story, but this is a example of being in communion with God in your secret place, brings protection from all harm no matter what is going on in the world. Psalms 91 (MSG) says
You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,
harm can’t get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they’ll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
This is a powerful word from God simply just saying seek me, get to know me and I will protect you and keep you! When we abide in God He protects us from unknown dangers ahead while everyone else is heading towards it. You can only be protected from hearing His voice in the secret place. No one can else can give you a secret place , or substitute for it. Prayer is the key and its really simple.
The man in this story only watched the news how simple is that! Prayer is all it takes! Our lives become a impending disaster when we lose focus on God and omit Him!
